The laptop fingerprint module may fail for several reasons, including the fingerprint status, identification method, your laptop settings, the system itself, and many others. If this happens, please do not attempt repeatedly in case the function is disabled after failing more than 3 times.
* If fingerprint ID is disabled, please sign in your laptop by entering your password or PIN code. The fingerprint ID will get back to work when you use it again.
You can try to fix the problem through the following ways:
1. Keep Your Fingers Dry and Clean
Sweat, water stains, or dirt on the finger may affect the accuracy of fingerprint identification. Please keep your fingers clean and dry when attempting to unlock the laptop with your fingerprint.
2. Cover the Entire Fingerprint Sensor
If you have thin fingers or light fingerprints, you may not be able to cover the entire fingerprint sensor when pressing the button, causing a failure of identification. Please adjust your finger position to make sure your finger covers the entire sensor.
3. Start the Laptop before You Unlock
If your laptop is shut down or stays in sleep mode for a long time, it cannot be unlocked by fingerprint. To use fingerprint, you need to press the power button to wake up the laptop first.
4. Reset Your PIN
If you have problems with the Windows Hello PIN, you may encounter a fingerprint unlock failure accordingly. Please sign in with your user name and password, select >, go to Accounts > Sign in options > Windows Hello PIN, click Delete, and delete the PIN following the prompt. Then click Add and reset the PIN according to the prompts on the screen. Reset your fingerprint ID.
5. Update the Fingerprint Driver
Go to the HONOR official site, click Support, in Select Your Product, select Laptops, click the link of your laptop model and open the page, find the relevant drivers, then download.
* For MagicBook 2019 AMD Ryzen, MagicBook Pro AMD Ryzen, MagicBook 14 AMD Ryzen, MagicBook 15 AMD Ryzen, only fingerprint driver is required.
After installing the appropriate drivers, right click and go to Device Manager > Biometric devices. Check and make sure there's no yellow exclamation point in the fingerprint driver of biometric devices. Then register your fingerprint and unlock your laptop with your fingerprint.
6. Update Windows
Make sure your laptop is running the latest system firmware.
